B-GLAD Deaf Services

Raquel Camarena has worked for B-GLAD for over 4 years. She was initially the Receptionist, she then became the Family Educator and now she is the Outreach Coordinator! Raquel is originally from Mexicali. Her native language is Spanish but she is fluent in English and American Sign Language as well. She is married and has three beautiful daughters, one is Deaf. Everyone in the family uses American Sign Language, English and Spanish!

Michelle Tackett is a Kern County native, born and raised near the farming community of Wasco. She began working at BGLAD as a Community Advocate/Interpreter in 1997. Her current position is a Community Interpreter. Michelle enjoys traveling throughout Kern County and providing interpreter services to the local community. In her free time she enjoys taking photographs, geocaching, and learning about different languages and cultures.

Phoua Vang, our Receptionist, is originally from Minnesota and moved here three years ago. She enjoys working with the Deaf Community and studying. Her favorite people are her husband and two stepchildren.
